CoreWeave Falls 17.9% Over Two Days on the Same Meta Cloud Concerns

July 2, 2026 · Position: CRWV — 2.17% of the book

CoreWeave (CRWV) fell from $99.54 to $81.75 over two trading sessions this week, a combined decline of 17.9%, on the same Bloomberg report that hit Nebius: Meta Platforms is reportedly building a cloud business to resell excess AI compute capacity, raising the prospect that one of the AI-infrastructure sector's largest customers could become a direct competitor to the "neocloud" providers it currently pays.

CoreWeave's bull case leans heavily on revenue visibility — a disclosed backlog of roughly $99.4 billion and a long-term capacity agreement with Meta that runs through 2032. Not every analyst read the news as a reason to sell: Rosenblatt reportedly argued Meta doesn't have the contractual right to resell CoreWeave's already-leased capacity to third parties, and reiterated a Buy rating with a $250 price target. The stock still posted its worst selloff in months, on volume roughly double its recent average, as the market chose to reprice the risk first and sort out the contract details later.

What stands out is that CRWV and NBIS — two different companies, different balance sheets, different customer bases — fell together, on the same headline, within the same two days.

What this means for the book

This is close to a textbook example of the thematic-clustering risk the July letter called out directly: "much of the book is one bet: AI, compute/power, and semiconductors... if the theme cools many positions fall together." CRWV and NBIS combined are only 4.46% of the book, so the direct damage here is limited — but the same headline also touches WYFI and, more broadly, sentiment across every AI-infrastructure name I hold. A single report about one company's plans moved several unrelated positions at once, which is exactly the correlation risk that a diversification argument is supposed to protect against, and doesn't here.
