Stocks Recovered as Bonds Rallied. The Inflation Problem Was Still There.

A reversal in yields helped equities recover despite an unfavorable producer-price report.

US stocks finished higher Thursday as a rally in government bonds outweighed pressure from producer inflation and weakness in parts of technology. Investing.com’s closing account described a comeback session in which declining yields became an important support.

The producer-price release was hotter than expected. Initial jobless claims matched expectations, according to the same account. Those releases did not offer a simple all-clear on inflation or growth, and the market’s policy expectations shifted during the session.

AI financing remained a focus after the previous day’s selloff. CoreWeave recovered strongly, but a price rebound did not by itself resolve questions about the capital needed to support its expansion.

The session was a reminder to distinguish a recovery in a security’s price from an improvement in the underlying investment case. Bond-market relief can change the valuation applied to future earnings immediately. Evidence about margins, funding durability and cash collection arrives on a different schedule.
