Accenture Forecasts More Growth—and Cash Returns—After a Stronger Quarter

The consultant’s outlook shifts the AI discussion from infrastructure spending to paid implementation work.

Accenture forecast fiscal 2027 revenue growth of 3% to 6% in local currency Thursday after reporting a fourth quarter above the top of its revenue guidance. The company expects diluted earnings of $14.39 to $14.81 a share and plans to return at least $9.5 billion to shareholders.

The results address a different part of the AI economy from chip production and data-center construction. Accenture sells the implementation, integration and operating work through which clients try to make new technology useful. Demand for that work is a separate commercial test from a hyperscaler’s capacity order.

The forecast is for Accenture’s overall business, not a promise that all of the expected growth comes from generative AI. Its services span industries and types of work. Treating the entire revenue outlook as an AI revenue forecast would overstate what the disclosure establishes.

Accenture reported $11.6 billion of free cash flow for fiscal 2026 and $11.5 billion returned to shareholders. Its fiscal 2027 outlook calls for free cash flow of $11.0 billion to $11.8 billion.

That prospective range is useful beside the revenue forecast. A consulting company can grow bookings while the timing of staffing, delivery and collection changes the cash it retains. The company’s financial presentation gives investors a way to compare the growth plan with its expected cash consequences rather than relying on bookings alone.

Local-currency growth and reported-dollar growth also need to be kept separate. Currency movements can change the translation of a multinational business’s sales without representing a comparable change in underlying customer work.

The company report landed in an unsettled bond market. Reuters described consulting stocks gaining early in the session while investors faced rising yields and concern about inflation. By the close, AP reported only a modest increase for the major US equity benchmarks.

That setting gave the forecast a specific role: operating evidence investors could weigh against a more demanding valuation environment. It did not immunize the business from a slowdown in clients’ spending or establish that every AI project was generating acceptable returns.

For the next review, the important comparisons are delivery against the local-currency revenue range, the free-cash-flow outlook and the conversion of large customer commitments into completed work. Those are measurable tests of a service business, rather than another proxy for how much the technology industry intends to spend.
